Sometimes finding the perfect furniture layout can be difficult. If you have never worked with the room before, it can be tough to figure out the best placement for each piece to be used to its maximum functionality.
If your furniture layout isn’t working for you, or you aren’t sure how to arrange the room, look no further! Here are three tips for arranging the furniture in your living room (or any room, really!).
- Keep entrances clear. When you first enter a room, clutter and furniture should not be what you (literally) walk into. Make sure the entryways to the rooms are cleared of furniture and other objects.
- Don’t line the room with furniture. One tendency people have is to push all their seating up against the walls. This is completely not necessary! Let a sofa float perpendicular to the wall, or add a free-standing chair.
- Remember the three-foot rule! The general rule of thumb when arranging furniture is to leave three feet of walking space around the room. Additionally, furniture items with doors or drawers that open should have three feet of space to allow full functionality.
Keep these tips in mind when setting up the furniture in your apartment, and you’ll be on your way to an arrangement you’re completely happy with!
